We're people too. As web geeks we value our privacy and know that you care about how your personal information is used. We take your privacy very seriously. We've outlined our privacy policy below so that you know what to expect and how you're protected. By visiting the Upinion website, you are accepting the practices outlined in this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy covers Upinion's treatment of personal information that Upinion gathers when you are on the Upinion website and when you use Upinion services. This policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that Upinion does not own or control, or to individuals that Upinion does not employ or manage.

When you visit Upinion you provide us with two types of information: personal information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected by us and Web Site use information collected by us as you interact with our Web Site.

When you register with Upinion, you provide us with certain personal information, such as your name, your email address, your address, your gender, and any other personal or preference information that you choose to provide to us.

When you enter Upinion, we collect your browser type and IP address. This information is gathered for all Upinion visitors. In addition, we store certain information from your browser using "cookies." A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. We use session ID cookies to confirm that users are logged in. These cookies terminate once the user closes the browser. By default, we use a persistent cookie that stores your login ID (but not your password) to make it easier for you to login when you come back to Upinion. You can remove or block this cookie using the settings in your browser if you want to disable this convenience feature.

When you use Upinion, you may set up your personal profile, form relationships, send messages, perform searches and transmit information through various channels. We collect this information so that we can provide you the service and offer personalized features. In most cases, we retain it so that, for instance, you can return to view prior comments you have recorded or easily see your favorite user list. When you update information, we usually keep a backup copy of the prior version for a reasonable period of time to enable reversion to the prior version of that information.

You post User Content (as defined in the Upinion Terms of Use) on the Site at your own risk. Although we allow you to set privacy options that limit access to your pages, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. We cannot control the actions of other Users with whom you may choose to share your pages and information. Therefore, we cannot and do not guarantee that User Content you post on the Site will not be viewed by unauthorized persons. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Site. You understand and acknowledge that, even after removal, copies of User Content may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or if other Users have copied or stored your User Content.

Any improper collection or misuse of information provided on Upinion is a violation of the Upinion Terms of Service and should be reported to privacy@upinion.com

If you choose to use our “share” function to tell a friend about our site, we will ask you for information needed to send the invitation, such as your friend's email address. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email or instant message inviting him or her to visit the site. Upinion stores this information to send this one-time invitation, to register a friend connection if your invitation is accepted, and to track the success of our referral program.

By using Upinion, you are consenting to have your personal data transferred to and processed in Canada.

Keeping Information Secure

  • Your Upinion account information is protected by a password for your privacy and security. Protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer by logging off once you have finished using a shared computer.
  • Only employees who need personal information to perform a specific job (for example, a customer service representative) are granted access to it. All of our employees are kept up to date on our privacy and security practices.

Ways to Control Display and Use of Your Information

  • As stated previously, you can always opt not to disclose information, but then you may be unable to use certain features on our website, such as posting new links.
  • By visiting your User Profile, you can correct, amend, add or delete personal information on our website. When you update information, however, we often maintain a copy of the unrevised information in our records.
  • You may request deletion of your Upinion account by e-mailing us at support@Upinion.com.

Children Under 18 Years of Age

You must be 13 years and older to register to use the Upinion website. As a result, Upinion does not specifically collect information about children. If we learn that Upinion has collected information from a child under the age of 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. We recommend that minors between the ages of 13 and 18 ask and receive their parents' permission before using Upinion or sending information about themselves or anyone else over the Internet.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

Upinion may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time, at its sole discretion. Use of information we collect now is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is used. If we make changes to the Privacy Policy, we will notify you by posting an announcement on the Upinion website so you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances if any, it is disclosed.

Conditions of Use

If you decide to visit Upinion website, your visit and any possible dispute over privacy is subject to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use, including limitations on damages, arbitration of disputes, and application of Ontario provincial law.
